Welcome to Blue Skies Above Photography

My name is Denise and I have been doing photography since I was 10 years old. My parents bought me my first camera to begin to photograph my older brother while he wrestled but I soon found out I wasn’t interested in being a sports photographer. I much prefer to photograph children, casual family portraits and since I work alone, I limit myself to intimate weddings. The world is my backdrop as I love being outside.

I graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology where I majored in Narrative, Documentary and Editorial photography. I focused my attention on Medical Photography. Upon graduation I worked at Massachusetts General Hospital and became the Orthopaedic Medical Photographer.  After being at MGH, I then moved to Philadelphia and started a Medical Photography Department at Hahnemann University Hospital.

After having children, I found a new love of photographing them in various activities.  My photography has now expanded into my business of casual outdoor portraits, weddings, birthdays or holiday events.
